RECORDING ARTISTS COMPETE FOR GRAMMY NOMINATION
(Los Angeles-Nov. 15, 2000) Multi-talented Los Angeles based performers Tadia Rice, a producer/vocalist/playwright, and Ellis Hall, a composer/arranger, have collected GRAMMY® entries in ten categories for their music productions Solace Of The Eyes and A Woman And Her Words, a theatrical music drama.
Among the GRAMMY® entries Rice and Hall are competing for are: Album of the Year and Best Pop Album for Solace Of The Eyes; Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance for the song entitled Sands Of Time. Rice rated in the Best New Artist category, and the duo also earned nods for Producer Of The Year for both productions. The most likely nomination would be Best Musical Show Album where A Woman And Her Words: The Story Of Tahirih competes with only 34 entries chosen from more than 300 shows submitted in the category. Rice and Hall become nominees if voted among the top five of any category. The 43rd GRAMMY® Awards will be presented by the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences at the Los Angeles Staples Center. It will be televised on CBS television on February 21, 2001.
Solace Of The Eyes and A Woman And Her Words are based on the poems and true life story of Tahirih, the 19th-century Persian woman poet, legal scholar and transformational leader known as Joan of Arc of the Eastern world. The live production of the theatrical music drama, which stars Rice, has been touring throughout the United States and South Africa since 1996, earning rave reviews from critics and unanimous praise from audiences.
Solace Of The Eyes and A Woman And Her Words were released in July. Sold by major music retailers and online internet sellers, international distribution is reported in 20 countries.
